PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium oxide compound having a crystal structure in which TiO6 octahedrons are linked, from an intermediate which has a feature in a crystal structure including a layer structure formed by linking of TiO6 octahedrons and is synthesized through a precursor having a layer structure formed by linking of TiO5 trigonal dipyramids.SOLUTION: There is provide the titanium oxide compound which can be used as a negative electrode having higher safety and higher capacity than ever before, a method for producing the titanium oxide compound and a lithium ion secondary battery obtained using the compound are also provided. The titanium oxide compound is obtained by eluting and heat treating potassium in potassium tetratitanate, the potassium tetratitanate being represented by general formula: KTiO, and heating the resulting compound, and fulfilling relationship: Ia>Ib>Ic, between a peak intensity Ia in the (200) plane, a peak intensity Ic in the (004) plane, and a peak intensity Ib in the (31-3) plane, in an X-ray diffraction spectrum using a Cu-Kα beam source. |
