PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuously variable transmission that can perform engine braking and achieve reduction in manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A sheave side cam 81 and a shaft side cam 82 respectively has: first surfaces 81b, 82b that are inclined by a predetermined angle α1 with respect to a surface orthogonal to the axial direction of a first shaft 40; and second surfaces 81c, 82c that are inclined by a predetermined angle α2 in a direction opposite to the first surfaces 81b, 82b. The first surfaces 81b, 82b are brought into contact with each other, thereby allowing direct power transmission from the first shaft 40 side to a second shaft 60 side. The second surfaces 81c, 82c are brought into contact with each other, thereby allowing direct power transmission from the second shaft 60 side to the first shaft 40 side. The angle α2 of the second surfaces 81c, 82c is set larger than the angle α1 of the first surfaces 81b, 82b. |
