The inspection device has cameras (3a,3b) extending opposite to each other and between which to-be-inspected object (1) is positioned in operation. An optical element (10a) which is switchable into a transparent and a non-transparent state is arranged between camera (3a) and the object. The object is imaged by the camera (3b) in the non-transparent state by performing transmitted light method, and by one of the cameras in the transparent state by performing top illumination method. An independent claim is included for inspection method for objects.
