PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling the temperature of slab are provided to determine the amount of a coolant considering the actual temperature of the slab, thereby controlling the temperature of the slab. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the temperature of slab includes a control part (100), a coolant injecting part (200), and a temperature sensor (300). The control part inputs a temperature measurement value from the temperature sensor, determines the amount of a coolant based on the temperature measurement value, and outputs a control signal in order to inject the coolant at the determined amount through the coolant injecting part. The coolant injecting part comprises multiple coolant injecting units, and injects the coolant to a segment region in response to the control signal. The amount of the coolant injected to the segment region is controlled by the control signal. The temperature sensor measures the temperature of the slab, and outputs the temperature measurement value of the slab.
