PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a golf ball having a good hitting feeling when struck, good scuff resistance and high durability to impact while reducing loads on an environment, and to provide the golf ball obtained by the method.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the golf ball having a solid core formed of a rubber composition and a cover of one or more layers covering the core includes: a core forming step of forming the solid core; a surface treating step of treating the surface of the obtained core with an aqueous solution containing a haloisocyanuric acid and/or a metal salt thereof; a washing step of washing the surface of the surface-treated core; and a covering step of covering the washed surface of the core with a cover material.
