<p>Provided is a playback device that displays a two-dimensional image without performing redundant processing. The playback device receives a first stream that includes an encoded image of a first type and an encoded image of a second type, decodes the encoded images, stores the decoded images in a first buffer, and in addition, determines whether a decoded image is of the first type or whether a decoded image is of the second type, receives a second stream that includes an encoded image of a third type which is an image of a viewpoint different to the viewpoint of the image of the first type, decodes the encoded image of the third type, stores the decoded image in a second buffer, performs three-dimensional playback for an image determined to be of the first type by using the image of the first type stored in the first buffer and the image of the third type stored in the second buffer, and performs two-dimensional playback for an image determined to be of the second type by using the image of the second type stored in the first buffer.</p> |
