PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support origin causing no pinhole by the defective point of the support origin.SOLUTION: A method for producing a support for a hollow fiber membrane includes steps of weft-knitting multifilament into cylindrical shape, and heat-treating the weft-knit multifilament. In the step of weft-knitting the multifilament into cylindrical shape, a method for producing the support for a hollow porous membrane is applied to supply a knitting machine with the multifilament while keeping constant tension applied to the multifilament using a tensioning device.
