PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member capable of switching the presence or the absence of the division of incident light with agility and flexibility, and an optical device.SOLUTION: A Wollaston prism is configured by arranging a first prism which has a first surface and a second surface not parallel to the first surface and consists of a birefringence crystal base material, and a second prism which has a third surface and a fourth surface not parallel to the third surface and consists of a birefringence crystal base material, such that the second surface and the third surface face each other in parallel. A clearance with a predetermined interval is provided between the second surface and the third surface, and variable polarization means constituting of a pair of transparent substrates each provided with a transparent electrode and a liquid crystal interposed between the transparent substrates is inserted in the clearance. Thereby, polarization separation effect of the Wollaston prism is switched by a state of charge to the transparent electrodes. |
