Disclosed is a method for treating water containing organics. The method includes treating water containing organics with an adsorbent, and adding zero-valent iron to the water in the presence of oxygen and adding persulfate thereto, wherein the water is oxidized using reactive oxygen species containing hydroxyl radicals and superoxide radicals produced by the addition of zero-valent iron and persulfate radicals produced from persulfate activated by the addition of zero-valent iron. According to the treatment method, non-biodegradable organics as well as nitrogen and phosphorous, nutrient salts which could not readily be removed by conventional treatment methods, contained in water to be treated, can be effectively removed by a physical removal method using activated carbon and by a chemical removal method using radical oxidation.
|
