Multiple battery cells (16) are arranged between the two end frames, and a thermistor is arranged in the retainer. The thermistor extends into the two pockets to contact the cells. The pockets define an aperture, where the end frames extend through the aperture such that the thermistor contacts the cells. An insulator is arranged in the retainer and partially surrounds the thermistor.
