PURPOSE: A device for displaying an electronic document and a method for displaying the electronic document on a display are provided to read a text document on the display by visually dividing the part read by a user and controlling a display speed. CONSTITUTION: A processor(110) executes an electronic document display function, a storage device(160) stores the electronic document which is displayed, and a memory(120) loads the electronic document. A display unit(130) displays the electronic document loaded to the memory, and a UI(User Interface)(140) receives a command from a user. A display control module(122) adds a visual effect to the electronic document, and a speed control module(121) adds a time cycle of the visual effect. The processor sequentially displays the visual effect on a text unit of the electronic document in response to the time cycle.
