The device has a central unit creating genuine random numbers and distributing the random numbers to network nodes. Each network node includes a module transferred by a transmitter over a net to a receiver, where the module can produce digital keys by algorithms from random numbers for producing genuine random numbers. The module includes storage units (101-103) for storing digital key data, a data end and decryption module and interfaces for enabling data communication. An independent claim is also included for a method for providing an authenticated confidential communication between network nodes of automation nets.
