The method involves operating a remote control receiver with a filter set (f0) by a digital filter (4), a bit detector (5) and a decoder unit (6). A switching control signal is supplied from the filter set to a frequency switching logic (7) over the digital filter, the bit detector and the decoder unit for switching the remote control receiver to another filter set. The frequency switching logic is connected with the digital filter by a filter set unit (8) that comprises the two filter sets. The digital filter is switched by the switching control signal to the latter filter set. An independent claim is also included for a remote control receiver comprising a frequency switching controller.
