PURPOSE: A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to change a gamma voltage outputted from a gamma unit according to changes of display modes, thereby minimizing loss of gray scale. CONSTITUTION: A data driving unit supplies a data signal to a display panel. A timing control unit(131) supplies the data signal to the data driving unit. A programmable gamma unit(137) supplies a gamma voltage to the data driving unit under control of the timing control unit. An external memory unit supplies gamma data to the timing control unit. An image processing unit(111) supplies the data signal to the timing control unit and outputs a gamma change value to make the programmable gamma unit change the gamma voltage when a mode change signal is supplied from the outside.
