PURPOSE: A method and a system of providing expressway travel time of a vehicle are provided to offer accurate expressway travel time information to a road user. CONSTITUTION: An expressway travel time providing system of a vehicle includes a vehicle detector(100), an expressway traffic control center(200), and a road variable information indicator(300). The vehicle detectors are installed at regular intervals in a travel section of an expressway and collect traffic information. The road variable information indicator displays an expressway road travel time of the vehicle by being installed at main points of the expressway. The traffic control center is composed of an RF module, a vehicle detector travel time calculator, a tollgate sensor, a tollgate delay time calculator, and an expressway travel time calculator. The RF module receives the traffic information collected in the vehicle detector. The vehicle detector travel time calculator calculates a travel time of the vehicle detector. The tollgate sensor senses the existence of a tollgate. The tollgate delay time calculator calculates a delay time of the vehicle at the tollgate. The expressway travel time calculator calculates the expressway travel time of the vehicle by adding the travel time of the vehicle detector and the tollgate delay time.
