Cosmetic composition comprises hydrophobically modified celluloses having hydrophobic groups (greater than 0.6 wt.%), and vegetable oil, where: the celluloses comprise a main chain constituted by a nonionic cellulose ether on which hydrophobic groups are provided; and the hydrophobic groups comprise (1) 3-alkoxy-2-hydroxy group (3-6C alkyl) in which the fragment alkoxy is linear or branched and comprises 5-30C, preferably 3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl group and/or (2) 9-30C (preferably 12-18C) alkyl and 6-30C aryl, arylalkyl and alkylaryl groups. Cosmetic composition comprises hydrophobically modified celluloses having hydrophobic groups (greater than 0.6 wt.%), and vegetable oil, where: the celluloses comprise a main chain constituted by a nonionic cellulose ether on which hydrophobic groups are provided; the hydrophobic groups comprise (1) 3-alkoxy-2-hydroxy group (3-6C alkyl) in which the fragment alkoxy is linear or branched and comprises 5-30C, preferably 3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl group and/or (2) 9-30C (preferably 12-18C) alkyl and 6-30C aryl, arylalkyl and alkylaryl groups; and the hydrophobically modified celluloses does not comprise 3-8C non alkoxylated alkyl group. An independent claim is included for conditioning hair or washing/cleaning body, comprising applying the composition on the keratinous material and then rinsing.
