The catheter has a hose (10) made from plastic and comprising a distal end, and a metallic casing (12) attached to the distal end, where an axis of the casing is aligned with an axis of the hose. Ultrasound-reflecting recesses (18) are formed in an outer casing surface of the casing. The recesses comprise reflector surfaces arranged at an angle between 75 and 105 degrees, and distributed over axial length and circumference of the casing. The recesses are arranged offset to each other in a common radial plane around 120 degrees in a circumferential direction.
