PURPOSE: A method for preparing 3,4-dioxythiophene compounds is provided to reduce catalyst use and to obtain the compound with high purity and high yield. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing 3,4-dioxythiophene(or 3,4-alkylene dioxythiophene) of structural formulas 1 and 2 comprises a step of dearboxylation of compounds of strucutral formulas 3 and 4 under the presence of a catalyst of ultrafine copper powder or copper salt. The catalyst is copper powder, copper oxide, or a mixture thereof. The average size of the copper or copper salt particles is less than 10 um. |
