PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system capable of selecting an arbitrary image forming apparatus from a plurality of image forming apparatuses upon visual confirmation of the actual arrangement thereof, and a communication device and an image forming apparatus used therefor.

SOLUTION: In an image forming system Z, a printer Y transmits photograph data containing at least an own apparatus taken at the installation site of the own apparatus to a portable terminal X in response to a request from the portable terminal X (S23 to S24), and executes image formation processing on the basis of the image data received from the portable terminal X (S25 to S26). The portable terminal X requests the printer Y to transmit the photograph data and acquires the photograph data (S12 to S13), displays photograph data corresponding to a printer Y selected from a plurality of printers Y by operating means (S14), and transmits the image data to the printer Y of which selection is decided (S20).
