<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate a proper combination for a magnetic head among magnetic disks of a plurality of patterns. <P>SOLUTION: A head tester 10 evaluates a magnetic head 60 for performing signal recording/reproduction to/from a BPM type disk 40 with a servo area pattern or a data area pattern formed. The head tester 10 includes a spindle 14, actuators 12 and 13 capable of moving the magnetic head 60, an evaluation section 25 for evaluating a magnetic recording characteristic of the magnetic head 60, a display section 26 for displaying the magnetic recording characteristic of the magnetic head 60, and a control section 24 for controlling the actuators 12 and 13, the evaluation section 25 and the display section 26. When the BPM type disk 40 is mounted onto the spindle 14, the control section 14 moves the magnetic head 60 to a prescribed test area included in any test zone to evaluate the magnetic recording characteristic of the magnetic head 60, makes the display section 26 display an evaluation result, and makes a storage section 30 store the evaluation result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
