PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver and a digital broadcast recording method that are capable of reducing a recorded amount.

SOLUTION: A digital broadcast receiver comprises: a reception unit that receives a broadcast signal; a data extraction unit that extracts a data stream of a data broadcast from the broadcast signal received by the reception unit; and a communication data control unit that determines whether a communication content as additional data associated with the data broadcast has been recorded in a recording device.
