PURPOSE: A safe meter reading method using a smart device is provided to minimize meter reading errors in a remote place without the restriction of an installation place of a metering target. CONSTITUTION: According to a safe meter reading method using a smart device, a safe reading meter APP(application) is executed in the smart device(S20). A main screen of the safe meter reading APP is displayed, and a self metering menu is provided on the main screen(S30). If the self meter reading menu is selected, it is automatically converted into a camera module(S40). An energy cyclometer located at an energy consuming place is scanned using the camera module(S50). When the scan for the metering value of the energy cyclometer is completed, image data for the metering value is automatically stored(S60). The image data is automatically stored and transmitted to an energy supply server(S70). If the metering value has an error(S80), a visit metering reservation menu provided in the main screen is selected(S90). A visit time input window is provided(S100). When the metering time is reserved through the visit metering reservation time input window, the visit metering reservation time and personal information of a meterman are provided on the visit metering output window(S110,S120).
