摘要 In order to stably generate discharges for detecting coordinates for the position of a light pen and detect said coordinates with high precision, in this image-display-device drive method, one field is provided with an image-display subfield, a y-coordinate-detection subfield, and an x-coordinate-detection subfield. During an initialization period for the x-coordinate-detection subfield, a first voltage is applied to data electrodes and a first falling voltage is applied to scanning electrodes. During an initialization period for the image-display subfield, a second voltage is applied to the data electrodes and a second falling voltage is applied to the scanning electrodes. The difference between the first voltage and the voltage reached by the first falling voltage is made greater than the difference between the second voltage and the voltage reached by the second falling voltage.
