The present invention relates to a process and to an arrangement for treatment of a filtrate (1) which is obtained in the course of production of a fibrous material suspension or of a fibrous material web, wherein the filtrate (1) is fractionated prior to reuse and the fractionation gives rise to a material filtrate (3) having high material density and a clear filtrate (4) having low material density, and the clear filtrate (4) is collected in at least one clear filtrate vessel (5) and stored in a clear filtrate stacking tower (6). The expenditure for the pumping of the clear filtrate (4) is to be reduced by passing the clear filtrate (4) from the clear filtrate vessel (5) to clear filtrate consumers (7) for reuse, excess clear filtrate (4) being conducted from the clear filtrate vessel (5) to the clear filtrate stacking tower (6), and clear filtrate (4) additionally required being conducted from the clear filtrate stacking tower (6) to the clear filtrate vessel (5).
