<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device capable of improving fuel economy when making a lane change or turning right or left. <P>SOLUTION: This engine control device includes: a prediction part 14 for predicting the lane change or right or left turn of a vehicle 1; a determination part 15 for determining whether or not the vehicle 1 is positioned in a congestion zone; and a control part 16 for performing idling stop when the prediction part 14 predicts the lane change or the right or left turn of the vehicle 1 and also the determination part 15 determines that the vehicle 1 is positioned in the congestion zone. Thereby, when making the lane change or turning right or left in the congestion zone, the idling stop is performed until the idling stop is allowed to be performed and the lane change or the right or left turn is actually performed.
