<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-emitting laser element that can be manufactured in high yield, in a surface-emitting laser having an upper DBR formed of a dielectric multilayer film. <P>SOLUTION: The surface-emitting laser element includes a lower DBR formed on a substrate, an active layer formed on the lower DBR, a dielectric layer formed on the active layer, and an upper DBR formed on the dielectric layer. The upper DBR is formed by laminating two types of dielectric films having different refractive index alternately. The dielectric layer has a thickness of greater than λ/4n, where λ is the oscillation wavelength in the active layer, and n is the refractive index in the dielectric film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
