METHOD OF ESTIMATING OFDM SYMBOL TIMING IN CABLE NETWORK

PURPOSE: A method for estimating the timing of a symbol used in a cable network communicating with an OFDM method is provided to reduce hardware complexity in an OFDM receiver while maintaining symbol timing estimation performance. CONSTITUTION: An OFDM symbol including a cyclic symbol is received(510). An energy property of the OFDM symbol is calculated by using a pre-established SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio)(520). The timing of the OFDM symbol is estimated on the basis of the calculated energy property of the OFDM symbol and the correlation property of the OFDM symbol(530).
