<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium excellent in electromagnetic conversion characteristics and running characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium of the present invention includes: a nonmagnetic support body; a nonmagnetic layer formed on one principal surface of the nonmagnetic support body; and a magnetic layer formed on a principal surface opposite to that on the side of the nonmagnetic support body of the nonmagnetic layer. The magnetic layer has a thickness of 10 to 150 nm, and includes a magnetic powder that is one kind selected from among a hexagonal ferrite magnetic powder, a ferromagnetic metallic iron magnetic powder, and an iron nitride magnetic powder. When L1 is defined as the average thickness of a first mixture layer formed on a surface opposite to that on the side of the nonmagnetic layer of the magnetic layer, L1 satisfies 2 nm≤L1≤6 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
