<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a computer program for effectively performing processing for making faces of persons look smaller in a picked-up image even when a plurality of persons make a pose with motion. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing method includes the steps of: determining whether or not a processing contour line intersects with another processing contour line (S73) for each of detected faces in processing faces detected from an image; and excluding a face from a processing object (S75) if the processing contour line intersects with the other contour line (S73:YES).
