The method involves controlling and determining reducing agent target quantity in a dosage-computation unit (31). An exhaust gas is mixed in an exhaust gas channel using a dosage device. Reducing agent-actual quantity is determined and compared with the reducing agent target quantity. The reducing agent target quantity and the reducing agent actual quantity are integrated over dosing cycles, and integral values are compared. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling dosage of a reducing agent into an exhaust gas channel of an internal-combustion engine.
