PURPOSE: An image display device, a set top box thereof, and an operating method thereof are provided to display 3D broadcast images by receiving the images from the set top box by entering an external input display mode. CONSTITUTION: An image display device receives a broadcasting signal through a broadcast receiving unit(S1210). If the received broadcasting signal is an unprocessable 3D broadcasting signal, the image display device receives a 3D broadcasting image signal from a set top box(S1220-S1235). The image display device enters an external input display mode to display a received 3D broadcast image in the mode(S1240,S1245).
