<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow starter which significantly inhibits the wear of a fixed electrode. <P>SOLUTION: A glow starter has: a bulb having an interior space; a noble gas filling the interior space of the bulb; and a movable first electrode and a fixed second electrode which are installed in the interior space of the bulb. The noble gas is a mixed gas of a first noble gas and a second noble gas. The first noble gas is argon gas and the second gas is at least one selected from a group composed of neon, krypton, and xenon.
