<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective film comprising a porous film with moisture permeability and water impermeability, enabling highly efficiently conducting an operation of applying and fixing itself onto the unit coated surface of an automobile. <P>SOLUTION: The protective film 2 comprises: a porous film 2a with moisture permeability and water impermeability, cut to a shape identical with that of the unit coated surface of an automobile, e.g. its bonnet, roof or trunk; and a band-like self-adhesive layer 2b with a release paper 2c, formed on the outer circumference of the thus cut porous film 2a.
