<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce inspection time for and improve inspection accuracy in a surface inspection of a vehicle component. <P>SOLUTION: A surface inspection method includes: a first image acquisition step of acquiring, as a first image, an image of first areas set on a surface of a vehicle component 20 by first image acquisition means for detecting each first area with one pixel; a defective area setting step of, when the defect intensity of a first area of the acquired first image is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold, setting the first area as a defect detection area 351; a second image acquisition step of acquiring an image of plural second areas 41-49 of a defect determination area 40 including the defect detection area 351 and the periphery of the defect detection area 351 by second image detection means for detecting each of the second areas 41-49 with one pixel; and a defective article determination step of calculating an average of the defect intensity of each of the second areas 41-49 whose defect intensity is determined to be equal to or more than the predetermined threshold and, when the average is equal to or more than the predetermined defect intensity threshold, determining that the vehicle component is a defective article. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
