The shelf (13) has a storage recess with a storage surface (15) and formed by injected fiber composite material (10) i.e. natural fiber mat. The storage surface is injected with the composite material. A decoration layer (11) forms the storage surface. The composite material is injected into a region of the storage surface with less intense than into areas i.e. side walls (16), surrounding the storage surface. The composite material is held in a reinforcing cage. The reinforcing cage is connected with the composite material in a material-fit manner. A housing (18) is held in the recess. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a storage shelf for a vehicle.
