The present invention relates to the use of compounds derived from 1,2,3,5-tetrasubstituted pyroles in conjunction with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients in the production of a drug that can be used to treat inflammatory diseases involving processes of cellular apoptosis, preferably diseases arising through sepsis caused by Gram-negative bacteria. Said diseases include acute sepsis-induced pulmonary diseases, acute sepsis-induced respiratory distress syndrome, endotoxic or endotoxemic shock, septic peritonitis or trauma. The invention also comprises the pharmaceutical composition for treating said diseases.
