PURPOSE: A precipitation echo path prediction method and apparatus are provided to be able to rapidly predict the weather change by collecting radar images through multiple X-band radars in real time. CONSTITUTION: A precipitation echo path prediction method predicts the movement route of the precipitation echo by analyzing the radar images collected through multiple X-band radars in the weather forecast system. The precipitation echo path prediction method comprises a display generating stage of generating a display of a first weather image by collecting radar images through each X-band radar when the observation cycle comes, and outputting each radar image on a designated window(S301); an analysis object window selection stage of setting the tracking radius of the precipitation echo, and selecting multiple windows of the first weather image display falling into the range of the tracking radius based on the window which is indicating the precipitation echo in a second weather image display generated by just previous observation cycle, as an analysis object window(S303, S305); a movement route window selection stage of selecting a window showing the precipitation echo among the multiple analysis object windows as a movement route window in which the precipitation echo has moved; a production stage of producing a movement vector by setting up the central point of the window showing the precipitation echo in the second weather image display as an initial coordinate, and the central point of the movement route window as the end coordinate; and a forecasting stage of predicting the precipitation echo path of the next observation cycle based on the movement vector.
