<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a magnetic field by suppressing the influence of a magnetic field of disturbance existing in directions other than a magnetic field direction to be measured. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic field measuring instrument 9 includes an irradiation part 1, a gas cell 2, measurement means (polarization separator 3, light receiving part 4, signal processing circuit 5), and a magnetic shield 7. The magnetic shield 7 is formed in the shape of a cylinder having an opening at both sides. The gas cell 2 has gas atoms encapsulated internally and is arranged in a hollow area of the magnetic shield 7. The irradiation means 1 irradiates irradiation light including linear polarization adjusted so as to make the vibration direction of an electric field meet with the direction of the axis of the magnetic shield 7 to the gas atoms encapsulated in the gas cell 2 along a direction perpendicular to the axis of the magnetic shield 7. The measurement means measures the rotation angle of a polarization plane of the irradiation light irradiated by the irradiation means 1 and transmitting the gas atoms. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
