<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump wherein a drain hole for leakage water and a ventilating path of vapor are formed to be as perpendicular as possible in a vertical direction. <P>SOLUTION: The water pump includes: a bearing chamber 11 on an inner peripheral side of a bearing boss unit 1 of the casing A; a seal mounting chamber 21 in a pump housing unit 2; a cavity 3 formed between the bearing chamber 11 and the seal mounting chamber 21; the ventilating hole 5 for making the inner upper part communicate with the outer upper part in the cavity 3 of the casing A; the drain hole 4 for making the inner lower part communicate with the outer lower part in the cavity 3 of the casing A; two ventilation roof units 6 formed at predetermined positions above an external surface of the bearing boss unit 1 and covering an opening of the ventilating hole 5; and a rib 8 for the drain hole having the drain hole 4 formed, which is disposed below an external surface of the casing A.
