PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus which allow a light guide member to be positioned with high accuracy.

SOLUTION: A copying machine 1 includes: a holding member 420 to hold an LED 410 and a light guide member 340; and a first frame body 311 configured to attach the holding member 420 thereto. The holding member 420 includes: a first positioning target part 510a formed on one end in a main scanning direction; and a second positioning target part 510b formed on the other end in the main scanning direction. The first frame body 311 includes: a first positioning part 500a that is formed integrally on the inserted first frame body 311 and restricts movement in a direction intersecting the main scanning direction in the first positioning target part 510a; and a second positioning part 500b that is formed integrally on the first frame body 311 and restricts movement in the direction intersecting the main scanning direction in the inserted second positioning target part 510b.
