PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device allowing a user to easily change a special effect applied during moving image capturing, thereby enabling realization of various video expressions.

SOLUTION: An imaging device that images a subject to generate image data of the subject, and can capture a moving image and a still image, comprises: an in-moving-image special effect image processing unit that performs an image process applying an in-moving-image special effect having a temporally varying characteristic for causing a visual effect over a plurality of frames; a change instruction signal input unit that receives input of a change instruction signal instructing to change the characteristic; and a control unit that changes the characteristic depending on the change instruction signal received by the change instruction signal input unit.
