PURPOSE: A device for obtaining images from a monitoring camera by using position information and a method thereof are provided to accurately obtain an image at a certain position in an emergency by selecting a monitoring camera which is installed near the position using the current position transmitted from a mobile terminal or the position of the site. CONSTITUTION: A terminal communication unit(210) receives position information from a mobile terminal. A position information calculation unit(220) calculates distance per unit latitude and unit longitude by using the position information. A monitoring camera selection unit(230) selects a monitoring camera which monitors an object position by using the calculated distance. A monitoring camera control unit(240) generates camera operation information. A monitoring camera communication unit(250) transmits the camera operation information to the selected monitoring camera.
