<p>The invention relates to a method by which a device, such as a mobile computing device, is afforded one or more permissions to control building functions, such as the lighting or heating, in some portion of a building. The device is brought into proximity with one or more location specific items, such as a barcode or an NFC tag. Detection by the device of the item and/or interpretation of information obtained from the item enables, alters or revokes one or more permissions for the device to control building functions. The barcode or other graphical symbols could be provided on an electronic display. The permissions could be time-limited or transitory, and could be revoked on account of the position or motion of the device.</p> |
