Method and device for generating and editing a railway signal diagram

The method involves inputting topological data (102) such as altitude difference, of a portion of a railway system by a user, and automatically generating a track model (104) of the portion of the railway system by a calculation unit using the data. A set of rules for positioning a track equipment e.g. signaling light, to be placed on the track model, is chosen (106) by the user. A chosen rule executing order is chosen (108) by the user. A railway signal diagram of the portion of the railway system is generated (110) by the calculation unit using the positioning rules and the track model.
