PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orientation substrate for film formation having high strength while maintaining excellent orientation, a superconducting wire material, and a manufacturing method of the orientation substrate for the film formation.

SOLUTION: An orientation substrate 5A for film formation comprises: a first metal layer 1 which has no orientation and non-magnetic property; and a second metal layer 2 bonded to the first metal layer 1 having aggregate structure in which at least a surface layer is oriented. The first metal layer 1 has higher strength than the second metal layer 2.
