In an electric power steering device, a rotary element (63) screwed on a rack (4) engaged with a pinion (3a), which is rotated by steering operation, is driven by a motor (8). A vehicle is steered by longitudinal shifting of the rack (4) due to rotation of the pinion (3a). By rotation of the rotary element (63), a steering assistance power along the longitudinal direction of the rack (4) is generated.
