Several transistor amplifiers, such as 2 and 3, spaced along a transmission line 10 are traversed in series by a supply current furnished by a voltage-converter 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 including a transistor oscillator, the converter in the no-load condition producing a voltage below the maximum permissible voltage across the line; if the line is short-circuited, the converter ceases to generate since the damping of the transformer 6 becomes too great.
