PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver and a television reception method capable of peak shift based on audience rate information.

SOLUTION: The television receiver comprises: a battery; an external power source; an audience rate information analysis unit for analyzing the audience rate information received externally; and a power control unit for performing power control on the basis of the audience rate in the analyzed audience rate information. The power control unit performs the power control so as to select the battery when the numerical value of the audience rate is higher than a predesignated numerical value and to select the external power source when the numerical value of the audience rate is not higher than the predesignated numerical value.
