<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damage resulting from connection of an illegal tool even when the illegal tool is connected to a bus. <P>SOLUTION: A gateway device 2 is so connected as to demarcate a too-side bus 10 to which a legal operator can connect a legal tool 16 and an ECU-side bus 19 to which ECUs 25, 26 are connected.
