ELECTROLYTE MATERIAL, THERMAL BATTERY COMPONENT, AND THERMAL BATTERY FOR INTERMEDIATE TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a eutectic formulation of KOH and NaOH as an electrolyte or an electrolyte-separator.

SOLUTION: An anode 102 and/or a cathode 106 can contain a eutectic formulation of KOH and NaOH. A battery 100 can include an electrolyte-separator 104, an anode, and/or a cathode with the eutectic formulation of KOH and NaOH. An electrolyte in the electrolyte-separator can have a melting point in the range of about 170°C to about 300°C so as to be suitable for use in a thermal battery which does not require a pyrotechnic device for certain high temperature applications.
